PART II COMPARABLE LEVEL 0F EDUCATION
ICES Recommendation
Credential 1:
• The completion of the Ministry of Technical and Professional Training, Diploma
of Higher Technician Civil Engineer is considered generally comparable to the completion of the first three years of postsecondary study (three-year Advanced Diploma) at a recognized post-secondary institution
in British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada.
Credential 2:
• The completion of the Lebanese University, Teaching Licence in History is
considered generally comparable to the completion of a four-year bachelor degree at a recognized post-secondary institution in British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada.
Credential 3:
• The completion of the Lebanese University, Diploma of Advanced Studies is
considered generally comparable to the first year of study toward a master degree at a recognized post-secondary institution in British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada.
Credential 4:
• The first two years of study toward the Ministry of Technical and Professional
Training, Diploma of Higher Technician are considered generally comparable to the completion of the first two years of post-secondary study at a recognized post-secondary institution in British Columbia and
elsewhere in Canada.
Credential 5:
• The completion of the Saint Joseph University, Certificate of Aptitude-
Administration is considered generally comparable to the completion of one year of master-level study (one-year master degree) at a recognized post-secondary institution in British Columbia and elsewhere in
Canada.
Basis of ICES Recommendation
The factors considered in the evaluation of this credential include: the educational level at which the credential
was awarded; the normal basis of admission to the program of study; the total years of study required to complete the credential; and the recognition of the institution.
Credential 1:
• The completion of the Ministry of Technical and Professional Training,
Diploma of Higher Technician Civil Engineer normally requires the completion of a total of 15 years of study: 12 years at the primary and secondary level, and 3 years at the post-secondary level.
• The first three years of post-secondary study in British Columbia and
elsewhere in Canada normally requires the completion of a total of 15 years of study: a minimum of 12 years at the primary and secondary level, and a minimum of 3 years at the post-secondary level.
Credential 2:
• The completion of the Lebanese University, Teaching Licence in History
normally requires the completion of a total of 16 years of study: 12 years at the primary and secondary level, and 4 years at the undergraduate level.
• The completion of the four-year bachelor degree in British Columbia and
elsewhere in Canada normally requires the completion of a total of 16 years of study: 12 years at the primary and secondary level, and a minimum of 4 years at the undergraduate level.
Credential 3:
• The completion of the Lebanese University, Diploma of Advanced Studies
normally requires the completion of a total of 17 years of study: 12 years at the primary and secondary level, 4 years at the undergraduate level, and 1 year at the master level.
• The first year of master level study in British Columbia and elsewhere in
Canada normally requires the completion of a minimum of 17 years of study: a minimum of 12 years at the primary and secondary level, a minimum of 4 years at the undergraduate level, and 1 year at the master
level.
Credential 4:
• The first two years of study toward the Ministry of Technical and
Professional Training, Diploma of Higher Technician normally requires the completion of a total of 12 years of study: 10 years at the primary and secondary level, and 2 years at the post-secondary level.
• The first two years of post-secondary study in British Columbia and
elsewhere in Canada normally requires the completion of a total of 14 years of study: a minimum of 12 years at the primary and secondary level, and a minimum of 2 years at the post-secondary level.
Credential 5:
• The completion of the Saint Joseph University, Certificate of Aptitude-
Administration normally requires the completion of a total of 17 years of study: 12 years at the primary and secondary level, 4 years at the undergraduate level, and 2 years of part-time study at the master
level.
• Two years of part-time study are considered comparable to one year of full-time study.
• The completion of a one-year master degree in British Columbia and
elsewhere in Canada normally requires the completion of a minimum of 17 years of study: a minimum of 12 years at the primary and secondary level, a minimum of 4 years at the undergraduate level, and 1 year at
the master level.
Additional Comments:
• Although two years of study have been successfully completed, some
requirements for the Diploma of Higher Technician were not met and the final diploma was not awarded.
